AceShowbiz - Friends and fans of Reggaeton star El Taiger are rallying to show support for him after he was shot in the head. A vigil was held on Friday night in Miami, one day after the singer was found inside a car with a gunshot wound to the head.
The vigil was held in the area of at Northwest 17th Street and Ninth Avenue, near where the victim was found by police. Dozens of friends and fans brought light to the spot to pray for El Taiger, who remains in critical condition.
"It's very criminal that he was basically a block away from the hospital," said Izzy Vera, a fan who attended the vigil. "And inhumane, honestly. We're here to support, to give out good vibes." She added, "Get well soon. Very speedy recovery, to the point that he gets out of there the man that he was."
El Taiger, whose real name is Jose Manuel Carbajal, is in critical condition after he was shot in the head on Thursday, October 3. Officers were alerted of the incident shortly after 7 A.M. and discovered him inside a black Mercedes SUV.
After pulled out of the trunk, he was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. He underwent surgery and was placed on life support. A rep for the singer told NBC 6 that a surgeon said the singer suffered significant damage to his brain.
His manager Teresa Padry, however, stressed that the singer "is in stable but critical condition," unlike "they're saying on social media." She insisted, "His vitals are doing well; he's good. He's good, he's good, and I truly in my heart believe he's going to make it."
The singer's momager Macel Reinosa told CBS News Miami that there is a person of interest, who knows El Taiger and allegedly made the 911 call. "Nobody in the team believes that he committed suicide, based on what they are saying on the bullet," she said. "It was in the front of his head, so I would really doubt someone would shoot himself and then get on the back of the trunk by himself."
Meanwhile, the MPD said police interviewed a person of interest, but there are currently no suspects in custody. Police are investigating whether his injury was self-inflicted or whether foul play was involved. "We're not ruling any situation out at this time," said City of Miami Police Chief Manny Morales.
"If we determine that the case is criminal in nature, then we don't want to risk our ability to prosecute those who are responsible, bring them to justice and bring any type of justice to the family or the victim," he went on explaining.
