AceShowbiz - Prepare yourself as Netflix releases the electrifying trailer for Tyler Perry's "Beauty in Black", set to premiere on October 24. This drama marks part of Perry's exclusive partnership with Netflix, where he will create films and series under a multi-year deal, including "Mea Culpa".
The newly released trailer introduces us to Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) and Mallory (Crystle Stewart), two women with distinct backgrounds. Kimmie is fighting to make ends meet after being evicted by her mother, while Mallory has achieved success as a businesswoman. As their paths collide, they become entangled in a web of family conflicts, corruption and risky ventures.
"I know you wanna get out of this life. Might as well make the best of it," Kimmie's friend advises, hinting at the allure and dangers of the stripper world. Alongside Polidore and Stewart, the ensemble cast includes Amber Reign Smith, Ricco Ross, Debbi Morgan, Richard Lawson and Terrell Carter.
Set in Atlanta, "Beauty in Black" explores the collision between the affluent hair care industry and the seedy underbelly of strip clubs. Perry's inspiration came from observing the dynamic between these two worlds in the '90s. "What happened if those worlds collided - the stripper world and this hair care business?" he questioned.
The series promises to delve into the transformative power of the underdog, reminding viewers to never underestimate their potential. Netflix will premiere the first part of "Beauty in Black" on October 24, consisting of eight episodes.
"Beauty in Black" is a Tyler Perry Studios production, with Will Areu, Angi Bones and Tony L. Strickland serving as producers.
