Courteney Cox's involvement in the latest 'Scream' installment hangs in the balance as fans are left waiting for a definitive answer regarding her return because she has yet to sign on for the upcoming seventh installment.

AceShowbiz - Courteney Cox, who has played journalist Gale Weathers in every "Scream" film since the 1996 original, has yet to sign on for the seventh installment.

Cox confirmed that "Scream 7" is in the works and expressed excitement that original writer Kevin Williamson will direct the film. However, she emphasized that she is not officially attached to the project.

Meanwhile, despite her absence from "Scream VI" due to salary dispute, Neve Campbell is set to return as Sidney Prescott in "Scream 7." Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, who starred in the first two films of the "Scream" reboot, will not be returning due to social media controversies and scheduling conflicts, respectively.

Although there's possibility that she may not join the upcoming film, Cox hopes that her ex-husband David Arquette's character Dewey, who was killed in "Scream," can somehow be brought back. She expressed her belief that Dewey is a beloved character who is missed by fans.

The cast of "Scream 7" has yet to be officially announced, and it remains unclear whether Cox will ultimately return. She is keeping an eye on the project and is waiting for the right time to make a decision.
