Netflix has dropped a new teaser for the highly anticipated season 2 of 'Squid Game' at its Geeked Week event in Atlanta, revealing that the deadly competition is far from over.

The clip opens with Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), a clear look of tension on his face, pointing a gun at an approaching masked figure. The scene swiftly transitions to new participants preparing for the life-or-death game.
According to the teaser, season 2 takes place three years after Gi-hun's victory in the first season. Despite vowing to leave the game behind, he finds himself drawn back with a newfound determination. The synopsis reads, "Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 45.6 billion won."
Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has revealed that Gi-hun's motivations in the new season are driven by revenge. He will re-enter the game as a different character, more serious and determined.
The teaser features a haunting voiceover saying, "We're ready to start the game," in Korean. The cast of the beloved South Korean series includes returning actors Wi Ha-jun and Gong Yoo, along with several new additions.
"Squid Game" became a worldwide phenomenon upon its release in 2021, amassing a record 1.65 billion views in its first 28 days. It also made history at the Emmy Awards, with Jung-jae becoming the first Asian man to win Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Dong-hyuk becoming the first Asian person to win Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
Netflix has confirmed that season 2 of "Squid Game" will premiere on December 26. A third and final season is already in development and is expected to premiere in 2025.
