AceShowbiz - Following his time on "The Bachelorette", Devin Strader has addressed allegations of past abuse, including an arrest for burglary and a restraining order. In a statement released on Thursday, September 19, the 28-year-old freight company manager denied the accusations, stating that they have been "severely misconstrued."

"The accusations are simply not true as I have never inappropriately laid hands on another individual or treated my ex-girlfriend in any of the ways I have been depicted," Strader said. He also claimed that the restraining order was never granted and was "fully dismissed."

Strader's ex-girlfriend's sealed restraining order alleges physical, verbal and mental abuse, including a chokehold, spitting and property damage.

Strader stated that he and his college ex-girlfriend "reconciled" and ended their relationship on good terms. He apologized for a video he posted on social media after the "After the Final Rose" segment, in which he revealed private text messages from Tran to defend himself, saying, "I am not proud of that lapse in judgment."

The revelations have raised concerns about the vetting process of "The Bachelorette" franchise. A source close to production stated that the burglary affidavit was public during Strader's background check, but the restraining order was sealed.

"We take the safety of our contestants very seriously and make every effort to conduct thorough diligence," the source said. "As exhaustive as our vetting process is, this protective order did not surface in our searches."

Strader's ex-fiancee Jenn Tran has alleged that he misrepresented himself and broke up with her during a brief phone call after the show's finale.

Strader concluded his statement by expressing regret for hurting Tran and wishing her the best, adding, "She is a very special person."
