AceShowbiz - Florence Pugh is a vocal advocate for the sanctity of relationships, even when facing online criticism. In a recent interview with Vogue U.K., the actress revealed her motivations for standing up to internet commenters who targeted her then-boyfriend Zach Braff.
"I had to be public in the past because people were bullying me and bullying my partner," Pugh explained. "Mine and Zach's relationship was actually quite private until it was nasty, and I could see the toll that it was taking on him and us and our families."
Despite her preference for privacy, Pugh felt compelled to speak out against the "toxic" comments that were directed at them. "I think for anyone I'm with, I want to protect them," she said. "It's not nice knowing that people are saying the worst things I've ever read about someone that I love."
Pugh has also been candid about the challenges of being in the spotlight. "It's so hard. [The internet's] a very mean place," she said. "It's really painful to read people being nasty about my confidence or nasty about my weight. It never feels good."
The actress is aware of the scrutiny she faces and has learned to navigate the pitfalls of social media. "The one thing I always wanted to achieve was to never sell someone else, something that isn't the real me," she said.
Pugh believes she has overcome many of her own insecurities in recent years. "I don't think it's confidence in hoping people like me," she said. "I think it's just, like, I don't want to be anyone else."
Despite the challenges, Pugh remains optimistic about the future. "I want to go and find love and I want to have babies," she said.
