AceShowbiz - David Beckham and his wife Victoria Beckham (Victoria Adams) were initially apprehensive about allowing cameras into their lives for their Netflix docuseries "Beckham".
"It made me nervous, and it made Victoria nervous," Beckham admitted while speaking in London. "I hated almost every moment of making it."
Despite his initial discomfort, Beckham believed it was the right time to tell his story, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic heightened interest in documentaries and marked the 10th anniversary of his retirement from soccer.
The series delved into various aspects of Beckham's life, including his iconic soccer career, his marriage to Victoria, and controversial rumors of infidelity. While the docuseries garnered a positive reception and won an Emmy for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series, Beckham acknowledged the emotional toll of sharing such personal moments.
"It was very difficult," he said. "We loved the results, but we were talking about things in my career that I'd never spoken about before." Despite the challenges, Beckham remains proud of the impact the series has had.
"People are going to see her [Victoria's] personality and her work ethic," he said of an upcoming Netflix documentary about his wife's fashion and beauty business.
Beckham's Netflix docuseries showcases the challenges and rewards of public figures sharing their personal narratives with the world, highlighting both the public acclaim and the emotional discomfort that can come with it.
