AceShowbiz - Selena Gomez has fondly looked back on her time on "Wizards of Waverly Place," sharing both her love for the show and her occasional cringes.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Gomez watched a scene from the series finale of the beloved Disney Channel show, which ended in 2012 after four seasons. She expressed her appreciation for the show's writers, particularly Dom DeLuise's son, David, who played her character's father. Gomez noted that David's humor was "captivating" and helped shape the show's dynamic.
Despite her love for the show, Gomez admitted to cringing when watching the first season. However, she later found herself laughing at those same moments, recognizing the genuine and endearing qualities that made "Wizards" so memorable.
Gomez's fondness for her "wizarding roots" is evident in her participation in a reboot of the show titled "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place." The revival will feature David Henrie as the patriarch of his own family, with Gomez making a guest appearance in the pilot.
In a heartfelt moment during the first look at the new series, Gomez and Henrie returned to the set and expressed their emotional connection to the show. "This is where it all started," Gomez said. "We're home."
According to the official synopsis, Justin Russo, the adult version of Henrie's character from the original series, chooses to lead a normal life until Alex (Gomez) brings a young wizard to his doorstep for help. Justin must then dust off his magical skills while juggling his everyday responsibilities and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.
Gomez has previously described returning to the set and her beloved character as "like a dream," expressing gratitude for the show that launched her career. She hopes the new chapter will bring joy to a new generation of viewers just as the original series did.
