AceShowbiz - Gwyneth Paltrow is making her grand return to the big screen after a five-year hiatus, inspired by her daughter Apple Martin's infatuation with actor Timothee Chalamet. The 51-year-old actress will star alongside the 28-year-old Chalamet in the upcoming film "Marty Supreme", directed by Josh Safdie for A24.
Paltrow reportedly signed on to the project after Apple pleaded with her to accept the offer. Despite having no major desire to act, she was convinced by her daughter, who intends to be present on set as much as possible.
Paltrow had previously scaled back her acting career to focus on her multi-million dollar wellness empire, Goop. However, Chalamet's involvement in "Marty Supreme" convinced her to return. The film, loosely based on the life of legendary table tennis player Marty Reisman, is said to be a fictionalized original rather than a biopic.
Chalamet, who currently holds numerous Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe nominations, is set to play a character inspired by Reisman, known as the "wizard of table tennis" for his exceptional forehand shot. Paltrow's role in the film is unspecified.
Paltrow's last big-screen appearance was in "Avengers: Endgame", where she reprised her role as Pepper Potts. She has since appeared in several small-screen productions, including "The Politician", "American Horror Stories" and "She Said".
Despite her earlier declaration that she would "never get a taste for acting again," Paltrow's passion for goop has taken a backseat for now. It remains to be seen whether her return to acting will be a temporary affair or a sign of a more permanent career shift.
