AceShowbiz - Elle Macpherson, the iconic supermodel known as "The Body", has opened up about her secret battle with breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with seven years ago, in an interview with Australia's Women’s Weekly. After receiving a diagnosis of HER2 positive oestrogen receptive intraductal carcinoma, Macpherson faced a recommendation from her doctors to undergo a mastectomy with chemotherapy, radiation, hormone therapy, and breast reconstruction.
However, after consulting with 32 doctors and experts, including integrated healthcare physicians and fellow celebrity Olivia Newton-John, Macpherson decided against conventional cancer treatment. Instead, she took an intuitive and holistic approach, combining therapies and lifestyle changes to treat her illness.
Her decision was met with mixed reactions from her family. While her son Cy supported her choice, her other son Flynn was uncomfortable with it. Her former partner, Arki Busson, also disagreed with her approach while acknowledging her courage.
Macpherson's approach involved spending eight months alone in an Arizona rental, where she focused on her recovery under the care of specialists including a naturopathic doctor, a holistic dentist, an osteopath, a chiropractor, and two therapists.
Despite choosing a holistic approach, Macpherson believes that every individual must choose the path that resonates with them. She emphasized the importance of following one's inner sense, even when faced with skepticism from others.
After her treatment, Macpherson is now in clinical remission, or as she describes it, "utter wellness." She shares her experience to inspire others to follow their hearts and make choices that align with their personal beliefs, even in the face of adversity.
