AceShowbiz - Demi Moore, at 61, is opening up about the impact filming the bikini scene in "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" had on her. In an interview with Interview magazine, she spoke about struggling with her identity after appearing in the 2003 sequel.
"There was a lot of conversation around this scene," Moore recalled. "It was all very heightened, a lot of talk about how I looked." She felt a sense of alienation, not fitting the perceived roles of being either young and vibrant or a mother.
Fellow actress Michelle Yeoh, 62, shared Moore's experience, noting that Hollywood often marginalizes women of their age, offering limited scripts that resonate with them. "It's cruel to women," Yeoh said.
Moore explores these themes in her new film, "The Substance". She plays a Hollywood star who takes an experimental drug that creates a younger version of herself - a clone played by Margaret Qualley. The film delves into the societal pressures surrounding female aging and the idealized woman.
"What it's really about is what we do to ourselves," Moore said of the film. "Showing that violence with what we do with our thoughts, how we attack ourselves and distort things."
Moore also reflected on the evolution of aging in Hollywood, noting a shift in perceptions. "There's been evolution, even from when I was 40," she said. "I didn't work that much because I wasn't 20 or 30. The value and desirability of women used to be tied to fertility."
