AceShowbiz - Jools Lebron has seen the light amid trademark controversy over the viral phrase "very demure, very mindful." The TikTok creator has shared a hopeful update via a new post after someone else filed a trademark for the popular phrase first.
On Tuesday, August 27, the TikTok creator made use of the video-sharing platform to inform her followers that the issue is now "getting handled" by her team. "Divas, on the trademark front, I feel like I have to say something," she began in a new video.
"We got it handled. Now I'm going to leave it at that. We got it handled. Mama got a team now," she assured her fans, letting out a shriek in excitement. "It's getting handled," she added, "I appreciate you guys tagging me. I appreciate all the mentions. It's getting handled. Keep an eye out."
Jools, who popularized the term "demure" with her viral video titled "How to be demure at work," previously lamented someone else filing a trademark for the popular phrase. In a since-deleted video, she tearfully said, "I've just invested so much money and time into this. And I feel like I did it wrong. I feel like I didn't try hard enough."
Jools said she hoped to make some money from the viral trend to help her family and fund her transition. "I wanted this to do so much for my family and provide for my transition and I just feel like I dropped the ball," she shared. "Like, I feel like I f**ked up and someone else has it now. I don't even know what I could've done better because I didn't have the resources."
According to TMZ, a person from Washington state named Jefferson Bates applied for the trademark. As per court documents obtained by the site, it listed the reason for trademarking as an intent to market, advertise and promote.
Jools has since received support from many people, with one explaining, "Trademarks take time... months to be officially registered and approved. The original creator can still file and contest the other trademark that was filed. There is still time and the usage on social media is proof that she was the original creator. Go get what is yours!!!"
Others are ready to boycott any merchandise which are not authorized by Jools. "We will NOT be buying any merch from anyone that isnt you love," someone declared. Another similarly stated, "About to boycott any merch I see with 'Demure' on it since the proceeds aren't going to Jools."
Slamming Jefferson, who is accused of similar alleged wrongdoings in the past, a social media user claimed, "What an evil person to steal someone else's catchphrase and trademark it." Someone else said, "Who's this Jefferson bates?! He should come outside we just wanna talk."
