AceShowbiz - Big Sean proved how dedicated he is as a musician. In an emotional Instagram Live, the "I Don't F**k With You" hitmaker revealed that he kept working on his new album, "Better Me Than You", despite his COVID-19 diagnosis.
"I've been having a hard time lately, straight up. It has not been easy," the 36-year-old emcee began in the Monday, August 26 livestream. He then noted that he's a "chronic overthinker."
"You make art you put your heart into this s**t," Sean declared. "When I had COVID last week I was down and I was still working on the album."
Sean went on to give credit to his mom for convincing him to not postpone the album's release. "She was giving me them words," he explained. "And I was just like, look, I can keep working on some s**t and make it exactly how I wanted. But I'd be pushing it back forever."
"The album is dropping this week," Sean announced. "I appreciate my mom for being that guardian angel always giving me that advice. She really talked me through it for real."
"I'm excited. That's one thing my mom said, 'Get excited! Drop - Your album is fire!' " the Detroit artist, born Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, continued. "Everyone around me keeps saying that."
Even before its official release, "Better Me Than You" has caused a stir. An anonymous user leaked much of the album on social media, leading Sean to express his frustrations and drop the album's first official single, "Yes". As a gesture to fans, Sean shared a psychedelic, colorful trailer that adds to the excitement surrounding the new release. "Imma just start droppin' this new music before they leak it all," he wrote on Instagram.
