AceShowbiz - Netflix's "One Piece" is currently deep into production for its second season, and anticipation among fans is high. Season 2 promises to introduce iconic characters and locations, including Loguetown and Drum Island.
According to the One Piece Live Action Discord community, actor Nahum Hughes is rumored to be playing Bartolomeo, a fan-favorite character who first appears in the manga during the Dressrosa Arc. However, Bartolomeo briefly appears in Loguetown, which will be featured in Season 2 of the live-action adaptation. This casting choice aligns with the character's backstory and could hint at an expanded role in the adaptation.
In addition, fans speculate that stuntman and actor Gavin Gomes may be cast as Chopper's Heavy Point form. Netflix has yet to confirm these casting rumors.
Production for season 2 is currently underway in South Africa and is expected to continue until December 2023. Netflix has not yet announced a release date for the upcoming season, but it is speculated to air sometime in 2024.
Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the "One Piece" manga, revealed that there is an agreement between him, the series showrunners, and Netflix that the season will not be released until Oda himself is "satisfied" with the final product.
The inclusion of characters like Bartolomeo in season 2 demonstrates the commitment of the production team to stay true to the original story while also making creative choices. By adapting plot points early on, the series aims to provide a more complete adaptation of the beloved manga.
For now, fans eagerly await further updates and the official announcement of the season 2 cast.
