AceShowbiz - Gwyneth Paltrow, 51, is sharing a rare glimpse into her son Moses' life as he gets ready to leave for college. On Friday, August 23, she shared a video on her Instagram Stories answering a follower's question about her mental preparation for this transition.
"Have you dropped both kids off to college yet?" the commenter asked. "I'm doing that, I'm not ok."
"Not yet," Paltrow replied, filming herself in her backyard. Suddenly, Moses, 18, popped into frame, joking, "She hasn't quite gotten rid of me."
Paltrow has opened up about her mixed emotions regarding her son leaving the house. "On the one hand, [there is] incredible sadness. A deep sense of impending grief," she told The Sunday Times earlier this year. "But on the other hand, this is exactly what should be happening."
Moses, along with his older sister Apple, 20, is the product of Paltrow's previous marriage to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. Paltrow is also a stepmother to her husband Brad Falchuk's two children, one of whom is also leaving for college this fall.
"In the fall, Brad and I have boys that will be going off to university," Paltrow said to the Times. "It'll be interesting to see how the morning routine changes with no kids in the house."
Paltrow has stated that her son has a more relaxed approach to the college admissions process compared to her daughter. "Apple was very clear on where she wanted to go, and did everything in her power to make it happen," she told Bustle in October. "Moses is like, 'I don't know, I like this and I like that, and let's go back and see this, let's go back and see that one.' He's more relaxed about it."
As Moses prepares for his new journey, Paltrow is adjusting to the idea of being an empty-nester. "Your kids are supposed to be young adults who can achieve and cope and make connections and be resilient," she said. "That's exactly what you want. And that means they leave the house."
