AceShowbiz - A$AP Rocky has pushed back the release of his new album, "Don't Be Dumb". When announcing the postponement, the rapper revealed that he had to make the decision because "leaks and sample clearance are disrupting" the project.
"LEAKS & SAMPLE CLEARANCES ARE DISRUPTING THE ALBUM," the 35-year-old wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday, August 22. "ITS BEEN 6 YEARS & I WANNA MAKE THE BEST ALBUM EVER. IM SORRY FOR THE WAIT."
This is not the first time Rocky vented about album leaks. In May, he fumed, "Dummies need to stop leaking. Every time, it's back to the drawing board."
The "Praise the Lord" rhymer initially planned to drop the album on August 30. While he has yet to reveal a new date, the rap star did give fans a special treat on Wednesday as he released a music video for "Highjack".
Directed by Thibaut Grevet along with Rocky and his AWGE creative agency, the clip shows the rapper delivering his bars in an oversized, very stylized house-like set. On the tune, he seemingly clowns Drake by making a reference to his partner Rihanna, with whom he shares two children.
"These ni**as want my wife bad, the people want my next track," the 35-year-old, whose real name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers, spits. "Ni**as swear they pimpin', Scottie sippin', get your wife back."
People believed the lyrics were a response to Drake, who had previously poked fun at fans' lack of interest in new A$AP Rocky music on his "Family Matters" diss. It's unclear if Rocky's bars were actually aimed at Drizzy.
It has been a little over six years since the last time Rocky unleashed an album. His latest record is "Testing", which was dropped back on May 25, 2018. The album includes guest appearances from many fellow artists. Among them are Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi, Skepta, French Montana, Kodak Black, Dev Hynes and FKA Twigs.
