AceShowbiz - Syndicated daytime talk show "The Drew Barrymore Show" has received an early renewal for a sixth season on CBS Stations, extending its presence through the 2025-2026 season. This renewal comes ahead of the show's Season 5 premiere on September 9, which will see significant time period upgrades in several major markets.
"Drew is a unique talent and a vital part of the CBS and Paramount family," said Wendy McMahon, president and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures. "This early renewal and upgrades reflect our commitment to 'The Drew Barrymore Show' and its dedicated audience who appreciate Drew's warmth, curiosity, and genuine nature."
This fall, the show will move to upgraded time slots on CBS stations in key markets, including New York, Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Miami. In Houston, it will shift to NBC affiliate KPRC and air in an hour block at 10 a.m.
"Stations have recognized that 'The Drew Barrymore Show' is unlike any other series in daytime," added McMahon. "Drew's positive energy and viewer-friendly content resonate with audiences, and the upgrades to earlier time slots, especially when paired with 'CBS Mornings,' have proven to be a winning combination."
According to CBS, the show has averaged 1.1 million viewers this season, with nearly 6 billion minutes watched. It has also experienced an 8% increase in viewership in local markets during the first quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter.
"The Drew Barrymore Show" has a strong digital and social presence, with growth on Facebook up by 600% year-over-year and Instagram engagements up by 72% year-over-year.
Drew Barrymore herself expressed her excitement about the renewal in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. "I'll try to practice physical distance, which is not my strong point," she joked, anticipating the upcoming seasons. "I was alone in a studio by myself during the pandemic, and I love being around people."
"The Drew Barrymore Show" is produced and distributed by CBS Media Ventures and filmed in New York City. Barrymore and Jason Kurtz serve as executive producers.
