Despite the success of the latest installment in the sci-fi film franchise, 'Romulus' director Fede Alvarez stresses he doesn't want to rush into making a sequel.

AceShowbiz - Fede Alvarez, director of the successful "Alien: Romulus", has confirmed that he has ideas for a sequel to the film. "Romulus", released recently, has received positive reviews and box office success.

Alvarez, who previously directed "Don't Breathe" and "Evil Dead", stated that he and his co-writer Rodo Sayagues began discussing possible sequels during production. They have already explored ideas for what could happen after the film's ending.

However, Alvarez emphasized that he does not want to rush into making a sequel. He believes that the audience should have time to digest the film and express their opinions before deciding on a follow-up. His philosophy is to give the audience time to crave it before proceeding.

In discussing the film's themes, Alvarez spoke about the connection he felt to the synthetic character, Andy. As an outsider in Hollywood, he sees himself in Andy's experiences of being a minority. The film also explores the disposable nature of humans in corporate structures.

Alvarez drew inspiration from his own experiences in Uruguay, a third-world country. The desire to escape poverty and reach a better place is a common theme in his work. However, he also recognizes the value and beauty of his home country.

The name "Yvaga," the destination the characters strive for, has special significance. In Guarani, the language upon which Uruguay's name is based, it means "paradise."

Romulus features an array of technical innovations, including an animatronic figure of the late Ian Holm as the synthetic Rook. Deepfake AI and CG face replacement were used to enhance the puppet's performance.

The film also introduces a hybrid creature, "the Offspring," born from a human-Alien pregnancy. This controversial addition to the franchise pushed boundaries and sparked debate among fans.

Overall, "Romulus" is a critical and commercial success that has left audiences speculating about its future. While a sequel is not yet confirmed, Alvarez's ideas and the film's enduring themes suggest that the story may continue in the future.
