AceShowbiz - Ryan Reynolds has revealed that he was the one who proposed a tribute to the late son of his "Deadpool" co-star Rob Delaney in "Deadpool & Wolverine". In an emotional Instagram post, Reynolds expresses his regret for not paying homage to Henry Delaney, who died at age 2 from a brain tumor in 2018, following the completion of "Deadpool 2".
"If there's a bright side, even more people are seeing Henry's name in the credits of 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' " Reynolds wrote. "And at long last, father and son are sharing the same screen."
Reynolds also praised Delaney's 2022 memoir "A Heart That Works", describing it as an "incredible piece of writing" that explores grief. "Rob has a vivid perspective on unimaginable grief," Reynolds shared.
Delaney's character Peter returns in "Deadpool & Wolverine" and becomes even more popular with fans, adopting his superhero alter ego, Peter Pool. Delaney expressed that his return for the role felt different and more significant.
Henry Delaney was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of one in 2016 and underwent surgery in 2017. However, the cancer recurred, and he passed away on his father's birthday in 2018.
Delaney wrote "A Heart That Works" to bridge the gap between his unimaginable experience and the lives of ordinary people. Reynolds' tribute and Delaney's memoir serve as reminders of the profound impact that grief can have and the importance of supporting those affected by loss.
