Despite not caring about the axing of 'Batgirl,' Michael Keaton feels sympathy for the directors after the DC superhero movie was abandoned despite being completed.

AceShowbiz - Michael Keaton has voiced his indifference towards Warner Bros.' decision to scrap the completed "Batgirl" film, where he reprised his role as Bruce Wayne. "No, I didn't care one way or another," Keaton told GQ. "Big, fun, nice check."
However, Keaton expressed sympathy for Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the film's directors. "I pull for them," he said, acknowledging their disappointment.
During a discussion about his superhero legacy, Keaton emphasized the significant contribution of Tim Burton to the success of both Marvel and DC films. Burton directed Keaton in "Batman" and "Beetlejuice," both projects by Warner Bros.
"Tim deserves enormous credit," Keaton said. "He changed everything. I can't necessarily say this, but there's a strong possibility there is no Marvel Universe, there is no DC Universe, without Tim Burton."
Keaton further praised Burton's bold decision to cast him as Batman despite initial skepticism. "Everybody went, 'Wait, Michael? You worked with him on 'Beetlejuice,' right?' But I think what happened was Tim saw 'Clean and Sober,' " Keaton explained.
Despite the cancellation of "Batgirl," Keaton has donned the cape and cowl once more in 2023's "The Flash." TheWrap reviewer William Bibbiani commended Keaton's performance as Bruce Wayne/Batman as a highlight of the film.
