AceShowbiz - In the days leading up to his passing, Matthew Perry received high doses of ketamine multiple times daily, allegedly administered by Dr. Salvador Plasencia and his assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. On October 12, Perry experienced an adverse reaction to a large dose given by Plasencia, causing him to freeze and become unable to move or talk.
Iwamasa, despite knowing about Perry's condition, requested Plasencia's return to administer more ketamine. Despite being aware of the dangers and Perry's previous addiction, all five detained individuals allegedly continued to provide him with the drug.
Matthew Perry's stepfather, Keith Morrison, expressed hope that those involved in supplying dangerous drugs will face justice. DEA Administrator Anne Milgram condemned the abuse of trust by doctors and the distribution of ketamine in unmarked vials.
Kenneth Iwamasa has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death. Dr. Mark Chavez will plead guilty to conspiracy while Erik Fleming pleaded to conspiracy and distribution of ketamine resulting in death. Jasveen Sangha faces numerous charges, including conspiracy and distribution of ketamine. Dr. Plasencia faces a single count of conspiracy.
