AceShowbiz - The 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is promising its usual array of dazzling floats, celebrity performances, and, of course, Santa Claus. However, "Today" show viewers can look forward to something extra special: a poignant yet playful farewell to long-time co-anchor Hoda Kotb.
During the November 27 episode of "Today," Jenna Bush Hager, 43, and Hoda Kotb, 60, reminisced about last year's secret hand signal – Hoda brushing her teeth with a finger – which Kotb used on-air to let Bush Hager know she was thinking about her. "That was the indicator that I was thinking about Jenna," Kotb recalled.
Kotb and Bush Hager have devised a new secret sign for this year's parade. "I've been thinking a lot about the symbol," Kotb shared. "There's only one thing it could be. So, I don't know if you guys remember, but there's a song called 'RockaFellaCenta' that Matt Rogers does with Bowen Yang. Whenever I see Jenna, I go like this," she said, mimicking Yang's dance move from the video. "It's sort of our call sign," Bush Hager added.
Although this playful tradition creates delightful moments, it's also tinged with sadness as this will be the last Thanksgiving parade Kotb co-anchors. Kotb's departure from the "Today" show is slated for early 2025, enabling her to spend more time with her family. "I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new," she admitted.
