In a rare public spat between titans of the film industry, the 'Avatar' director responds to claims by the 'Independence Day' helmer of being 'overbearing' during the development of the sci-fi remake, 'Fantastic Voyage'.

AceShowbiz - James Cameron, 69, has responded to criticism from filmmaker Roland Emmerich, who accused him of being "overbearing" during the development of the remake of the 1966 film "Fantastic Voyage".
Emmerich, 68, stated that he was initially attached to direct the film but exited in 2007 due to Cameron's excessive involvement. "I do my stuff, and when I can't do my stuff, I'm totally not interested. As simple as that," Emmerich said.
Cameron denied Emmerich's claims, stating, "I've never said anything negative about Roland." He explained that as a contributor to the film's writing, he has an opinion on it and added, "Damn right."
Cameron clarified that he does not recall considering Emmerich for the directorial role. "I actually don't even remember talking to Roland Emmerich about 'Fantastic'. If I talked to Roland, it was for two minutes. I have a pretty good memory and I don't remember that at all," he insisted.
Regarding the status of the film, Cameron provided no updates. "Move on, that's a non-story," he said.
During the interview, Cameron also addressed criticism of the recent 4K releases of "Aliens" and "True Lies" from home video enthusiasts. He urged critics to "get a life, people, seriously."
Lastly, Cameron revealed that he is working on a "classified" "Terminator" project. He directed the original "Terminator" (1984) and its sequel, "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991), and was a producer on "Terminator: Dark Fate" (2019).
