AceShowbiz - Anthony Mackie reportedly has mixed emotions about Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Dr. Doom.
During Marvel's Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, the revelation of Downey's involvement overshadowed the debut footage from Mackie's film, "Captain America: Brave New World." This announcement left Mackie feeling shortchanged, as he had been relishing the buzz surrounding the footage, which also showcased Harrison Ford's debut as Red Hulk.
"You know what makes me mad? When you think you doin' something, that's when somebody show you that you ain't doin' nothing," Mackie joked in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
The applause that greeted Downey's return, he said, was deafening, contrasting with the reception to his own film's footage. "Harrison Ford knows my name! Nobody cared," he lamented.
Mackie's disappointment stems from his close relationship with Downey, having collaborated on multiple Marvel films. He even jokingly suggested that Downey should have allowed him to take the spotlight at Comic-Con, given the special treatment he received.
"I hope I get to punch Robert Downey Jr. in the face for feeding me goat and then stealing my day!" Mackie quipped.
Despite his disappointment, Mackie expressed enthusiasm for Downey's return, anticipating the opportunity to interact with him in future "The Avengers" films.
