AceShowbiz - Drena De Niro, the eldest daughter of Robert De Niro and Diahnne Abbott, took to social media on August 11 to celebrate her son Leandro De Niro-Rodriguez's 21st birthday. Leandro tragically passed away a year ago at the age of 19 due to an accidental drug overdose.

In an Instagram Stories post, Drena shared a sweet photo of baby Leandro along with his name and birth date, writing, "Happy 21st birthday in the celestial cosmos my little angel. I never stop thinking about you."

Leandro's father also shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, writing, "Happy birthday my beautiful boy. May your soul rest in peace as it does mine. Thank you for your light, laughter, love and lessons."

Robert De Niro first announced Leandro's death in July 2023, expressing his grief and asking for privacy for his family. In August of the same year, the New York City chief medical examiner's office confirmed that Leandro's overdose was caused by a combination of fentanyl, bromazolam, alprazolam, 7-aminoclonazepam, ketamine and cocaine.

Last month, on the one-year anniversary of Leandro's death, Drena honored her son's memory with a series of Instagram posts. She shared photos of Leandro throughout his childhood, including a visit to his grave. "Today we celebrate sweet and wild Leo," she wrote. "In your short time here, you made the world a brighter place. You are deeply loved like the sun loves the moon and the moon loves the sea."
