AceShowbiz - Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the first look images of the upcoming wrestling biopic "Unstoppable (2024)", based on the real-life story of Anthony Robles. The film, directed by William Goldenberg, follows the journey of Robles, who despite being born with one leg, went on to become a NCAA Division 1 Champion wrestler.
Jennifer Lopez stars as Robles' mother, Judy, while Jharrel Jerome portrays Robles himself. The cast also includes Bobby Cannavale as Robles' father, Michael Pena as Coach Bobby Williams, and Don Cheadle as wrestling coach Shawn Charles.
The story of "Unstoppable" is an inspiring tale of resilience and determination. As the film's synopsis reads, "Anthony Robles, despite being born without a right leg, rises to become a NCAA Division 1 Champion wrestler ultimately winning a national championship against the school that rejected him, national powerhouse Iowa."
The film is a passion project for Robles, who served as a producer and stunt double for Jerome. Affleck and Matt Damon's production company Artists Equity produced the movie.
"Unstoppable" marks Lopez's first film since her Netflix movie "Atlas". It is also her second project with Affleck since their marriage in 2022. The couple previously collaborated on the musical film "This Is Me ... Now: A Love Story", which was released in February.
"Unstoppable" is set to make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September before hitting select theaters in December. The film marks a directorial debut for Goldenberg, who won an Academy Award for his work as an editor on "Argo".
