AceShowbiz - T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, was apprehended by law enforcement at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport on Sunday night, August 4. This took place after authorities responded to a warrant issued for another man also named Clifford Harris in Baltimore, Maryland.
The suspect from Baltimore is wanted for alleged violent behavior towards a woman, stalking, and possibly involving a firearm.
The arrest triggered an automatic extradition hearing as the warrant was issued out of state. T.I.'s attorney, Steve Sadow, intervened promptly. Speaking to the Clayton County Sheriff's Office, Sadow managed to secure T.I.'s release within two hours of the arrest. "The judge reviewed and dismissed the extradition order," Sadow explained.
The entire incident highlighted the risks of common names leading to mistaken identities. The actual wanted Clifford Harris reportedly weighs 205 pounds while T.I. weighs considerably less at 165 pounds.
Despite these evident physical discrepancies, the mix-up led to T.I. being transported from the airport to Clayton County Jail before the error was rectified.
Unfortunately for T.I., this isn't his only brush with legal troubles in recent times. Earlier this year, T.I. and his wife, Tiny Harris, faced a lawsuit accusing them of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman in 2005.
The allegations mirror those they faced in 2021 by a member of the military. The couple has consistently denied these accusations, stating, "We are innocent of these fake claims, we will not be shaken down, and we look forward to our day in court."
