AceShowbiz - SZA, known for her transparency in her creative process, has shed light on the controversial lyrics in her hit single "Kill Bill." On Amelia Dimoldenberg's Chicken Shop Date, SZA admitted that some of the lyrics went a bit too far.
She particularly questioned the chorus, in which she fantasizes about killing her ex-boyfriend, "Oh my God, after I said that, I was like, 'That was so crazy and harsh,' " she stated, adding that she had simply been "randomly slightly enraged."
SZA also singled out the line "rather be in jail than alone" as something that is categorically untrue. "Cause I sung that, it has to be true?" she sarcastically asked Dimoldenberg.
This is not the first time SZA has discussed "Kill Bill" publicly. She previously revealed to PEOPLE Magazine that she initially considered not releasing the song. However, her producer Rob Bisel convinced her to do so, and it went on to become her first number one as a solo artist.
Despite the controversy, "Kill Bill" earned three Grammy nominations, proving that SZA's "crazy and harsh" lyrics connected worldwide.
Furthermore, SZA discussed other aspects of her life on Chicken Shop Date. She confessed that she falls in love easily, calling it "tragic" as she questions its sustainability.
