AceShowbiz - Selena Gomez is trending on X, formerly known as Twitter. The "Only Murders in the Building" actress sparked chatters online after Bella Hadid reposted a picture featuring Selena's cosmetics brand Rare Beauty on her Instagram account.
Considering their history of dating the same man, The Weeknd, the post unsurprisingly sent fans into a frenzy. In response to the model's post, an Internet user appeared to portray Selena as a villain in a viral thread on Thursday, July 4.
In the thread, which garnered 16K retweets and 191K likes, the user accused Selena of causing drama between her fans and fans of other stars, including Bella, Hailey Bieber (Hailey Baldwin), Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner. The person included the infamous Bella filter in TikTok as well as the eyebrow drama in their posts.
While some people agreed with the thread, Selenators quickly came to Selena's defense while targeting Hailey's fans in particular. "The way you guys get mad that the weekend [sic] went out with selena AFTER bella but glorify the fact that bieber went out with hailey AFTER selena and that selena needs to get over her issues with hailey yet bella is valid ??" one asked, referring to Hailey's husband Justin Bieber, who used to date Selena on-and-off for years.
Another stressed, "The way Selena has always supported her and never shaded her once but it was her who ignored Selena, which is totally fine but what's weird is how y'all try to paint Selena as a villain which she's clearly not," alongside a screenshot of Selena gushing over Bella in a Instagram Story post. Someone else, meanwhile, shared screenshots of Hailey's past racist tweets and wrote, "This is crazy."
The fight started after Bella reposted photos from Orebella, her fragrance brand, on Instagram Stories. One picture saw her WINDOW2SOUL perfume. Interestingly, people noticed that the snap also featured cosmetic products from Selena's Rare Beauty.
