AceShowbiz - A disabled fan of Chris Brown who recently went viral speaks out to set the record straight. In a new video, the fan, named Karel, clarified false claims that the "Under the Influence" hitmaker refunded her Meet & Greet ticket and even gave her an extra $10K.
In the clip, Karel said that she decided to clarify things after noticing that her meeting with the musician went viral on various platforms. "I'm just here to set the record straight. First of all, I want to say much love to Chris. Congratulations on having such a successful tour," she began.
"For those of you who don't know, I've been going to Chris' concerts, meet & greet and things like that for about 10 years now," Karel continued. She added that for the latest Meet & Greet, which pictures circulated online, she traveled to Toronto to go see him.
As she's been a longtime fan of the R&B star, Karel said that she has a great relationship with Chris and it's all about love and positivity. "What I'm not okay with is strangers on the internet using my face and exposing my disability for likes and clicks while spreading misinformation," she noted.
"If you see me at a show or at a meet & greet, please know that I paid for my ticket, I paid to get there," the fan continued. "I'm not a hundred percent sure where this information is coming from. Now for transparency, as I said before me and Chris have built a great relationship over the years, so there had been some events or shows that I've been to where he has upgraded my seats or provided me with tickets but that doesn't happen often."
Of the false narrative that has been going around, she added, "Someone literally saw a beautiful moment, wonderful pictures of someone with a disability standing next to a celebrity and decided to create a narrative that is absolutely factless. It's kind of perpetuating the social beliefs that individuals with disabilities don't have jobs, we don't function well in society. Everytime someone sees us, it turns it like a charity case - that is not the case at all."
Upon watching Karel's clarification video, Internet users applauded her for speaking up. "Prime example of y'all believing Anything yall see on the internet! Glad she spoke out about it!" one said. "Good for her for wanting to control her own narrative!!!! And she was well spoken and classy while correcting the record!!" another added.
The clarification came after an X account named Lushotz wrote in one of his posts, "This woman paid $1,111 for a 'Meet & Greet' with Chris Brown. When he saw her, refunded her money and gave her an extra $10k, along with these beautiful pictures." The tweet quickly went viral, garnering 10K retweets and 100K likes.
