AceShowbiz - "Yellowstone" stars apparently were not that happy with Kevin Costner's bitter exit from the series. Despite not picking sides between the Oscar winner and show creator Taylor Sheridan as well as Paramount, its cast members reportedly "turned their backs" on him.
According to RadarOnline.com, Cole Hauser, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, and others used to gush about the 69-year-old as he played the role of Montana ranch patriarch John Dutton. However, things have changed since he decided to leave.
"They play nice and exchange pleasantries, but he's not getting the support he would have expected," an insider told the publication. "Other than Kelly, who had fame for the Sherlock Holmes movies, Kevin made most of these people the big stars they are."
The source went on to claim that "even Kelly's star rose higher because she and Kevin played off each other so well." Unfortunately, now that they "don't want to get in trouble," the remaining cast members "iced him out."
"They're not picking sides," the informant further noted. "And that made Kevin bitter."
Kevin confirmed his departure earlier this month. " 'Yellowstone' was a great moment in my life," he said. "I ended up doing five seasons, but with other projects on my plate, it became necessary for me to change my focus."
The actor was referring to "Horizon: An American Saga," a four-part Western drama series that Costner directed, co-wrote, and stars in. Set before, during, and after the Civil War, it follows a group of pioneers exploring the American West. The first chapter hit theaters in June, and the remaining chapters are currently in production.
The second half of "Yellowstone's" fifth and final season is set to return on November 10. While fans will miss Kevin's iconic portrayal of John Dutton, his departure marks a new chapter in his career, with "Horizon: An American Saga" poised to cement his legacy as a master storyteller.
