AceShowbiz - Millie Gibson's portrayal of Ruby Sunday in "Doctor Who" will be significantly scaled back in the 2025 series. The actress's role had been previously rumored to end after just one season, but the BBC confirmed that she and Varada Sethu will both appear alongside Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor.

Gibson's upcoming appearances in 2025 will focus primarily on a standalone episode featuring Ruby reminiscing about her time with the Doctor, as well as a wrap-up of her family's storyline in the season finale. However, an insider has revealed that "the door has been left open" for Gibson to return as Ruby in the future.

Despite her limited presence, Gibson's character has been put on hold rather than fully written out. Showrunner Russell T Davies has stated that Ruby's emotional journey required a pause, and that she will make a comeback.

In the meantime, Gibson has been pursuing other projects, including the upcoming reimagining of "The Forsyte Saga", in which she portrays the iconic Irene Forsyte. The series is based on John Galsworthy's Nobel Prize-winning novels and follows the lives and romances of the affluent Forsyte family.

Varada Sethu, who has reportedly already commenced filming, will take over the companion role in the 2025 series. The ensemble cast for "Doctor Who" also includes Francesca Annis, Jack Davenport, Tom Durant Pritchard, Jamie Flatters and Eleanor Tomlinson. A U.K. broadcaster for the series is yet to be announced.
