AceShowbiz - Former President Donald Trump is making headlines for his recent remarks about pop superstar Taylor Swift. In an interview for the upcoming book "Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass", written by Variety's co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh, Trump lavishly praised Swift's appearance but expressed skepticism about her political views.
"I think she's beautiful, very beautiful! I find her very beautiful," Trump remarked during a conversation with Setoodeh in November 2023. "I think she's liberal. She probably doesn't like Trump. I hear she's very talented. I think she's very beautiful, actually, unusually beautiful!" His comments have since sparked widespread attention and debate.
The former president also questioned whether Swift's liberal stance is genuine or simply an act, reflecting a broader curiosity among some conservative circles about the authenticity of celebrities' political views. "She is liberal, or is that just an act? She's legitimately liberal? It's not an act? It surprises me that a country star can be successful being liberal," Trump pondered during the interview.
Swift, who initially remained apolitical, first broke her silence during the 2018 midterm elections to support Tennessee Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper. She then endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the 2020 presidential race, marking a significant shift from her previously reserved stance. "I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country," Swift wrote in a 2018 Instagram post.
The book also highlights Trump's confusion over the success of liberal country artists like Garth Brooks, indicating a disconnect between his perception of country music and its evolving landscape. "Garth Brooks is liberal. Explain that! How does it happen?" he asked, seeming puzzled.
