AceShowbiz - Executive Vice President of Television Animation and Disney Branded Television Meredith Roberts has revealed that conversations are underway with Alex Hirsch regarding a possible revival of "Gravity Falls". The show, which premiered on Disney Channel in 2012, followed the adventures of twins Dipper and Mabel Pines as they spent the summer in the mysterious town of Gravity Falls, Oregon.
Despite its popularity, "Gravity Falls" ended after two seasons in 2014. However, Hirsch has remained engaged with the franchise, publishing several books in the universe. In addition, Disney has produced short films based on the show.
Roberts' comments suggest that Disney is open to bringing "Gravity Falls" back in some capacity. "You know, we're in conversations with Alex," she said. "He's about to publish a book with Disney on his project. And we also do some shorts. So never say never."
If a revival does happen, it is unclear what form it would take. Hirsch has previously stated that he intentionally ended the show to avoid losing its original spark. However, the series finale left open the possibility for future adventures.
Fans of "Gravity Falls" have expressed excitement over the potential for a revival. The show gained a large following during its original run and continues to be beloved by many to this day.
Roberts' update suggests that Disney is considering the possibility of bringing back "Gravity Falls". While no concrete plans have been announced, the discussions with Alex Hirsch indicate that a revival is not out of the realm of possibility.
