AceShowbiz - "The Boys" returns for its highly anticipated fourth season next week on Prime Video, promising an explosive narrative and intriguing new characters. The streaming service has released a character poster spotlighting two of the latest members of the infamous "superhero" group known as The Seven.
Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) and Firecracker (Valorie Curry) join the unhinged and amoral ranks of Vought's Supes. Sister Sage, hailed as the smartest person in the world, is a bitter misanthrope whose brilliance goes unheard due to her socioeconomic background.
"It's a funny power," showrunner Eric Kripke said of Sister Sage's scheming nature. "We wanted a Black woman who was raised in poverty, so no one listens to her. It's both commentary and satire that the smartest person could solve society's ills, but she's ignored."
Firecracker, on the other hand, represents an alt-right extremist with the ability to create sparks from her fingers. Her unwavering fan base makes her a formidable force, according to Kripke.
"She represents both conspiracy-minded movements and super extreme right-wing news media," he explained. "She has a surprising backstory that connects her to some of the characters in our world."
While Firecracker and Sister Sage don't initially hit it off, they team up to cause significant problems for Billy Butcher and his crew.
The returning cast includes Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty and others. Jeffrey Dean Morgan has joined the show for season 4 in an undisclosed role.
The first three episodes of "The Boys" season 4 will stream from June 13, with weekly releases leading to the season finale on July 18.
