AceShowbiz - Britney Spears and her estranged father Jamie Spears have settled their legal dispute. It was unveiled that the pair settled an enduring debate over Jamie's legal fees and his management of the singer's finances in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, April 25.

The pop star's legal team, led by attorney Mathew S. Rosengart, was fighting to keep their client from having to pay Jamie's legal bills. Jamie himself reportedly had allegedly misused his authority as the musician's conservator to pay himself $6 million.

Terms of the settlement were not widely disclosed. However, with this move, the father-and-daughter duo avoids having to go to trial over the alleged financial misconduct during her conservatorship.

In a statement, Britney's lawyer, Mathew, said, "It has been our honor and privilege to represent, protect, and defend Britney Spears." He added, "Ms. Spears is and always will be an icon and a brilliant and brave artist of historic and epic proportion."

"Although the conservatorship was terminated in November 2021, her wish for freedom is now truly complete," he continued. "As she desired, her freedom now includes that she will no longer need to attend or be involved with court or entangled with legal proceedings in this matter."

Britney spent more than a decade under the protective order which controlled almost every aspect of her life and was run by her dad Jamie. It was brought to an end in 2021 and Britney has admitted she's found adjusting to her new life quite difficult at times.

"Learning this new freedom, I'll admit, is challenging at times," Britney told PEOPLE in October 2023. Since the end of the conservatorship, Britney experienced plenty of ups and downs. She married her boyfriend Sam Asghari but they split this summer just a year after they tied the knot and her two sons, Sean and Jayden, are now living with their dad Kevin Federline in Hawaii.
