After more than a decade of hiatus, the big-screen franchise known for parodying horror movies like 'Scream' and 'Blair Witch Project' is back with an all-new cast.

AceShowbiz - At CinemaCon 2024, Paramount and Miramax announced a new entry in the beloved horror parody franchise, "Scary Movie." Produced by Neal H. Moritz (known for "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Fast and Furious"), filming is expected to begin this fall.
Anna Faris and Regina Hall, breakout stars of the original 2000 film, skewered popular horror films like "Scream" and "The Blair Witch Project." The first two sequels, directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, also featured Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans.
Later installments, directed by David Zucker and Malcolm D. Lee, broadened the scope of parodies to include pop culture moments and celebrities. The most recent film, "Scary Movie V," was released in 2013.
After an 11-year hiatus, the franchise will return to take aim at the horror genre's recent resurgence. Blumhouse and other studios have dominated the box office with successful horror releases, as seen in the recent revival of the "Scream" franchise.
Whether the new "Scary Movie" will feature original stars, an all-new cast, or a mix is yet to be announced. Paramount has not provided a release date, but it is expected to arrive sometime in 2025.
With its history of witty humor and sharp satire, "Scary Movie" promises to deliver a fresh dose of laughter while poking fun at the latest horrors to hit the screen.
