The Marvel actor channels his inner Trump on set of his latest film about Trump's rise to power years before he delved into politics and became a Republican controversial figure.

AceShowbiz - Sebastian Stan, known for his role as Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has been cast as a young Donald Trump in the upcoming biopic "The Apprentice." The film, directed by Iranian-Danish filmmaker Ali Abbasi, will explore Trump's rise to power in the 1970s and 1980s.

Joining Stan in the cast is "Succession" star Jeremy Strong, who portrays Trump's mentor and lawyer, Roy Cohn. Oscar-nominated actress Maria Bakalova will play Trump's late ex-wife, Ivana Trump, while Martin Donovan will portray his father, Fred Trump.

Production on "The Apprentice" began in November 2023 and wrapped in January 2024. The film's first official look, released alongside its announcement for the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, include a photo of an intense Strong staring at a spooked-looking young Trump.

The film's plot delves into the relationship between Trump and Cohn, a controversial figure known for his work with Senator Joseph McCarthy during the Second Red Scare. The official logline describes the project as a dive into "the underbelly of the American empire" and a "Faustian deal" between Trump and Cohn.

"The Apprentice" is written by Gabriel Sherman, whose biography of Fox News founder Roger Ailes inspired the Showtime miniseries "The Loudest Voice." Directed by Abbasi, whose previous films include the critically acclaimed "Holy Spider" and "Border," the film will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14-25.
