AceShowbiz - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and ABC have announced the dates for the 97th Academy Awards ceremony. The event will take place on Sunday, March 2, 2025, a week earlier than the 2024 Oscars.
For the second consecutive year, the Oscars will begin at 7 P.M. ET / 4 P.M. PT, ensuring East Coast viewers can watch the entire show at a reasonable hour. The ceremony will be broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will reach audiences in over 200 territories worldwide.
The announcement marks the continuation of holding the Academy Awards in March, which has resulted in increased viewership for the past three years. Notably, the 2025 Oscars will not overlap with the Austin's SXSW festival, which had caused scheduling conflicts in the past.
For the second year, the Oscars will require that films meet the Academy's Representation and Inclusion Standards (RAISE) to be eligible for the Best Picture category. These standards aim to encourage equitable representation on and off screen, reflecting the diverse global population. The deadline to submit the confidential Inclusion Standards form is Thursday, November 14, 2024.
