On Sunday, April 7, Kourtney treated her Instagram followers to a slew of pictures of her enjoying time on a beach in Turks and Caicos during a vacay with Kim and Khloe Kardashian. Rocking a black bikini, Kourtney could be seen flashing a huge smile while inside the water.
"My diamond earring came off in the ocean and it's gone," so Kourtney, who touched her ears in one of the snaps, wrote in the caption.
The caption was a reference to a viral episode from "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" season 6. In the said episode, Kim had a meltdown during a family getaway to Bora Bora after she lost a $75,000 diamond earring in the ocean.
"My earring's gone!" the SKIMS founder shouted in the 2011 episode before starting to cry. "My diamond earring came off in the ocean!"
Kourtney then appeared from her villa after hearing the ruckus. The mom of four, who never hesitates to voice her opinion, told Kim, "Kim, there's people that are dying."
The scene quickly generated a meme online that was some members of the famed clan also used the meme to joke around each other. Kris Jenner even left a comment underneath Kourtney's post that read, "Kourtney there are people that are dying ….."
Some fans also found the post and the caption hilarious. "Thank you for always reminding her of that moment Kourt. We love you the most," one said. One other claimed that it's "the best caption I've seen in a long while."
Kim, meanwhile, admitted that she started to get tired of the jokes. "This gets so old," the "American Horror Story: Delicate" actress said in a November 2023 interview with GQ video. "Any time I'm in water, people will ask me if I found my diamond earring in the ocean."
The former wife of Kanye West continued, "I don't know if I showed this on our show, but [Kylie Jenner] found the earring. So, she dove in the ocean, put on goggles, found it, and then she went back and found the back of it. That's how clear the water is in Bora Bora, so, guys, the earring has been found."
"It was found in 2010. If anyone's going to Bora Bora searching for gold and diamonds, [it's] not there," Kim added.
