AceShowbiz - Reba McEntire has garnered mixed responses for delivering the National Anthem at the 2024 Super Bowl. Shortly after her performance, the "Turn On the Radio" singer was criticized by a number of social media users despite others praising her.
On Sunday night, February 11, the 68-year-old singer became a hot topic on X, formerly known as Twitter, as many X users voiced their opinions on the National Anthem being delivered by her at the highly-anticipated sports event. In the replies section of a tweet featuring a video of her performance, one X user candidly stated, "I like Reba but this was not the right song for her vocal range. I thought this sounded pretty awful lol."
Similarly, another questioned, "There are SO many TALANTED singers in this country...why not choose someone who can give that song the fire it deserves? Why the phuck have Reba sing it if she doesn't have the chops? Answer: globalists don't want us to feel pride for our anthem."
Despite the unpleasant comments, Reba was still showered with praise by other X users. One in particular gushed, "Everyone talking about Taylor Swift when we got a legend Icon Reba McEntire singing the national anthem." Another noted, "Such a difficult song to sing, and she makes it look easy. Not the most emotional rendition but impressive nonetheless!"
In the video itself, Reba was documented singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her rendition, which lasted one minute and 35 seconds, was able to make many attendees break down in tears, including Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones.
The "Fancy" songstress made sure to look stylish for the performance. She opted to wear a black camisole under a long-sleeved beige blazer that seemingly came with two shoulder pads. She also donned a pair of long black pants featuring silver flower embellishments all over them and a gold belt. To complete the look, she put on a pair of pointed-toe black shoes, a huge ring, a pair of earrings and a sparkling bracelet.
