AceShowbiz - "A million-dollar smile" may not be just an idiom for some famous people. While many would agree that keeping their health and well-being is a priority, a number of celebrities value their bodies more than others do.
As they rely so much on certain parts of their bodies due to reasons related to their works or image, these public figures fear they'll lose their income if they get injured on those parts. To minimize the risk and protect them from undesirable loss, they cover their assets with insurance.
Here are a number of famous stars who are reported to have taken out insurance policies to cover their valuable body parts.
1. Dolly Parton
Dolly Parton is a great singer, but she is also known for her platinum blonde hair and ample bosom. Knowing that she's famous for her boobs, the country music star reportedly insured her chest for $600,000, $300,000 per breast. She, however, refuted the claim in a 2022 chat with "Today", saying, "It was just a joke. I didn't do that."
2. Rihanna
Rihanna is dubbed a beauty not without a reason. While Navy would agree that she's perfect from head to toe, the Grammy winner apparently values her legs more than other parts of her body. When she was presented with Gillette's Venus Breeze Celebrity Legs of a Goddess award, she apparently realized how much her legs are worth and promptly insured them for a cool million.
3. Holly Madison
Holly Madison is famous for baring her curves for Playboy magazine, so it's only fitting that she insured her chest for $1 million. "If anything happened to my boobs, I'd be out for a few months and I'd probably be out a million dollars," the former girlfriend of Hugh Hefner told PEOPLE. "I thought I'd cover my assets… They're my primary money makers right now."
4. Heidi Klum
Heidi Klum's legs are not just for walking, but they are also making money. They are insured for $2.2 million, with one of the legs worth $200,000 more than the other. "When I was young, I fell into a glass and I have, like, a big scar," she explained to Ellen DeGeneres. "Obviously I put so much spray tan on right now you can't see it right now but yeah, one was more expensive than the other one."
5. Bruce Springsteen
Bruce Springsteen would not be a star he is today without his voice, so it's only appropriate that he values his voice so much. In his 70s, after debuting almost six decades ago, he's still touring and performing onstage, so it's no wonder that he's covered his vocal chords for $6 million.
6. America Ferrera
America Ferrera's smile is worth more than a million. After she became the face of Aquafresh, her smile was insured for $10 million, but it's was the company's decision, not her. "It's very flattering to have my smile insured for $10 million. It's not something that I ever imagined happening," she said.
7. Margot Robbie
Margot Robbie's "Barbie" movie's popularity has increased her fame and the value of her legs. Words are the actress' feet were insured for "tens of millions" after they were featured in the trailer of the 2023 summer blockbuster. The trailer featured the now-famous close-up shot of her perfectly arched feet and Barbie high heel shoes.
8. Julia Roberts
While many celebrities have bared their bodies on camera, Julia Roberts sticks to her decision to keep her clothes on and charm everyone with her infectious smile instead. As one of her biggest assets, the "Pretty Woman" star's smile was reportedly covered by $30 million insurance. She, however, denied it in an interview with The New York Times in 2022. "No. What am I insuring it against? How would you do that?" she responded to the rumors.
9. David Beckham
Back during their height of his soccer career, David Beckham was conscious about the worth of his legs. Known for his bending free-kicks, the former captain of England national team insured his legs for $70 million as they were prone to aggressive tackles by rival team's players on the field.
10. Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo realized he needed to protect his asset once he competed in the Premiere League. "Football in England is different; it is more physical," the Portuguese soccer player told The Examiner. "There are some teams who know they can't compete with you on a football level, so they just kick you. It's frustrating and something needs to be done to protect the skillful players, because one day someone will get seriously hurt." His legs are reportedly worth a staggering $144 million.
11. Jennifer Lopez
Even in her 50s, Jennifer Lopez is still as hot as she was during her younger years. Having maintained her fitness with regular workouts and strict diet, the singer/actress is known for her pert posterior, which is reportedly insured for $300 million. As to where her confidence is from, she told Marie Claire U.K. in 2010, "I've never looked at myself [my body] in a negative way."
12. Mariah Carey
Similar to Rihanna, Mariah Carey's legs became one of her biggest assets after she was chosen as the face of Gillette's Legs of a Goddess campaign. Rumor had it that her legs were insured for £500 million, while her vocal cords were insured for $35 million. Other reports claimed both her voice and legs were valued as high as $1 billion in total.
