Anthony Kiedis Biopic Being Developed at Universal
Movie

The upcoming movie about the Red Hot Chili Pepper lead vocalist is expected to be based on his 2004 tell-all book which was titled after one of the band's hit singles.

AceShowbiz - An Anthony Kiedis biopic is being developed at Universal Pictures. The movie production company is rumored to have optioned the rights to the Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman's searingly honest 2004 autobiography "Scar Tissue", the same name as their 1999 hit.

Kiedis himself is set to produce the feature film, which is currently in early development, alongside Brian Grazer and Guy Oseary, according to Deadline.

In Kiedis' book, he wrote about his unconventional relationship with his father, who was addicted to drugs and shared them with his son. The tome also covers the passing of founding Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Hillel Slovak, who died of a heroin overdose aged 26.

But 61-year-old star Kiedis has previously admitted he had regrets about penning the memoir, which once caused a rift with his bandmate Flea after he revealed in the book he had slept with his pal's sister.

In 2016, Kiedis told The Sun newspaper, "I did regret the book for a while as there was some pain caused. But then, I started seeing the long-term positive reverberating. People were reading it in hospitals, in prisons and schools and it was having a positive effect."

"I realised that the whole point of writing that book wasn't for me, but to show that somebody can go all the way down and come all the way back and have a productive, successful happy interesting life."

"And so whatever shame, pain or difficulty or discomfort I went through, then it was worth it because I get so many people coming up to me saying their kids had read it and got their act together because of it."
