AceShowbiz - "House of the Dragon" will bring another brutal war in its new season. On Saturday, December 2, HBO unveiled the first-look teaser for the upcoming second season of the "Game of Thrones" prequel series.
The teaser teases a war between kin with Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) and Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) as they go against each other after the death of Rhaenyra's child, the young and gentle Lucerys Velaryon (Elliot Grihault). Matt Smith's Daemon Targaryen later can be seen suiting up in his impressive armor.
Some cast members are also featured riding dragons during a battle with soldiers burning alive. "There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin," Rhaenyra can be heard saying. Her aunt Rhaenys Targaryen, played by Eve Best, then reminds her, "And no war so bloody as a war between dragons."
Elsewhere in the trailer, fans are treated to the first look at Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark. Other new characters that make appearances in the footage are Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne.
Meanwhile, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans are returning for the sophomore season. Joining them are Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham who will be reprising their respective roles.
Adapted from George R. R. Martin's "Fire & Blood", "House of the Dragon" is set around 200 years before the events of "Game of Thrones", about 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. It chronicles the Dance of the Dragons, a brutal years-long civil war during Targaryen rule of the Seven Kingdoms.
Season 2 of "House of the Dragon" is slated to debut in the summer of 2024.
