Sabrina Carpenter Unfazed by Criticism of 'Feather' Music Video: 'Jesus Was a Carpenter'

Two days after the MV was released, the Diocese of Brooklyn shared a statement with the Catholic News Agency, saying that Bishop Robert Brennan 'is appalled at what was filmed at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Brooklyn.'

AceShowbiz - Sabrina Carpenter has defended her "Feather" music video from critics. The singer said there was nothing wrong with filming the visuals in and outside a church in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. despite getting criticism from a Catholic bishop.

The 24-year-old addressed the matter in an interview with Variety. "We got approval in advance," she said, before adding, "and Jesus was a carpenter."

The "Feather" music video sees Sabrina dancing around inside the 19th-century church in a black tulle dress and veil. She's also seen killing and witnessing the deaths of men who acted inappropriately toward her, whether through catcalling, mansplaining or taking a nonconsensual photo up her skirt.

On the funky and fun disco-influenced track, Sabrina sings, "I feel so much lighter like a feather with you off my mind/ Floatin' through the memories like whatever, you're a waste of time." She continues, "Your signals are mixed, you act like a b***h/ You fit every stereotype, 'Send a pic'/ I feel so much lighter like a feather with you out my life/ With you out my life."

Two days after the MV was released, the Diocese of Brooklyn shared a statement with the Catholic News Agency. It stated that Bishop Robert Brennan "is appalled at what was filmed at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Brooklyn."

"The parish did not follow diocesan policy regarding the filming on Church property, which includes a review of the scenes and script," it added.
