The 'Walking Dead' spin-off, which was originally developed as a movie, will see Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira reprising their roles as Rick and Michonne respectively.

AceShowbiz - "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" has been given a premiere date. AMC has also unveiled a new teaser of the upcoming "The Walking Dead" spin-off, which will see Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira reprising their roles as Rick and Michonne respectively after they're last seen on the small screen years ago.

In the teaser, Lincoln and Gurira can be seen sharing what fans of the "TWD" franchise can expect from the highly-anticipated series. "People have gone, 'Where have you gone?' " Lincoln says, while Gurira notes that the show will offer "a really exciting story to tell."

"These two people are so powerful and together, it's insane," Gurina further teases. "This is some crazy love."

The footage also features a marooned cruise ship with a banner that reads "Safe Harbor". It further teases conflicts as fans can spot various people in military uniforms, which seemingly are from the CRM (Civic Republic Military) who has been teased on "The Walking Dead: A World Beyond".

The official logline for "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" reads, " 'The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live' presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were."

"Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead... And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they've ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive -- or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?" it continues.

"The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" was originally planned to be a movie centering on Rick. The character's arc was last featured in season 9 of "The Walking Dead" back in 2018 when he was taken by Jadis (Pollyana McIntosh) on a CRM helicopter. Rick later made a brief appearance in the flagship show's series finale as a consignee of the CRM.

As for Gurira, the "Black Panther" star departed from "The Walking Dead" in season 10. At the time, her character was depicted to have left to look for Rick, leaving their children Judith and Rick Jr. behind.

Executive produced by showrunner Scott M. Gimple, Lincoln, Gurira, Denise Huth and Brian Bockrath, "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" is set to premiere on AMC and AMC+ on February 25, 2024.
