AceShowbiz - Rita Ora's marriage has become a "wake-up" call. The 32-year-old pop star tied the knot with movie director Taika Waititi in 2022, and Rita admits that it's already proven to be a real turning point in her life.

"[Getting married] was a really, really big milestone. I don't think anyone really prepares you for it until you are in it," the "Your Song" hitmaker told Blag Magazine. "They say all these things, 'be careful with this', 'make sure you have date nights' and blah blah blah blah. But, like, you don't physically actually know what it's going to feel like until you do it."

"And so I think that was a big shock in the best way because you really are feeling like you're maturing [and] that's what they teach you. You get married, you mature, you become a lady, you become an adult, you become a woman. Then it's like have kids and all these things they teach you. But I've never believed in that."

However, Rita has been pleasantly shocked by the reality of married life. The chart-topping singer - who started dating the filmmaker in 2021 - shared, "I feel like being married … it's a big decision and it was a real wake-up call for me of knowing, 'Whoa, I'm really in control of my life,' because that was such an impactful choice."

Rita believes she's actually entered a "new chapter" in her life after tying the knot. She said, "I feel like because of that impactful choice, it's almost like, stop. [claps hands] And now here's where we start again, a new life with somebody else. So I guess that is a new chapter."
