AceShowbiz - Paul Costict of the hip-hop group B-Rock and the Bizz has sadly passed away. The rapper/singer died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 21 at his home in Norfolk, Virginia. He was 57 years old.
Sharing the sad news was a family member who spoke to TMZ. The family member did not disclose the cause of death, but said that they just spoke to Paul several days before his sudden passing. He reportedly seemed to be in good spirits on Wednesday, though it's mentioned that he was recently being sick with an disclosed illness.
Paul was one of the original members of rap group B-Rock and the Bizz which was formed in 1986. The group also consisted of Baron "B-Rock" Agee, his brother Leevirt Agee from New York City, and Thaddeus "T-Bird" Maye from Mobile, Alabama.
The group is best known for their hit single "My Baby Daddy", which peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1997, from their debut album "Porkin' Beans & Wienes". The song was the group's only hit, making them a one-hit wonder.
The song earned gold certification and the accompanying plaque became the root of Paul's dispute with his ex-wife Lasancious. They fought over his plaque in a TV episode of "Divorce Court".
In 1999, B-Rock and the Bizz released their second album "Porkin' Beans & Wienes" with Terius "The Dream" Nash replacing Thaddeus in the line-up.
In addition to being a member of the band, Paul also served as the group's road manager. His former groupmate Thaddeus, who grew up with Paul in Alabama, is remembering him as "a very funny and Kool brother."
The group's impact has been felt through the years, with female Miami bass hip-hop group Anquette releasing an answer song to "My Baby Daddy", titled "My Baby Mama", in 1997. During her pregnancy with her first child in 2022, Rihanna was spotted rocking a "dat's just my baby daddy" T-shirt in homage to the original song.
