AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber's unreleased collaboration got leaked. The song, which is titled "Cannonball", was supposed to make the cut of the Canadian crooner's third album, "Believe".
On the track, the former friends sing in harmony, "I think you like this/ 'Cause your love is like a cannonball." They continue, "I don't wanna treat this love like a battle/ There was a time I was on your side but not anymore/ 'Cause your love is like a cannonball."
While some people liked the song, many were left unimpressed by it. "Sound bad tho," one person wrote, while another penned, "Glad it didn't came out." A third chimed in, "Instantly the worst song Taylor has ever been a part of."
The criticism didn't stop there. More came forward with one commenting, "We don't care keep it in the trash bin." A different individual replied, "This sounds boring."
Justin allegedly invited Taylor "to do a writing session" back in August 2011. "It didn't go on Believe, because there's another record they want to work on. So, it just didn't make sense at this time, and the song they did just didn't make sense on this album," Justin's longtime manager Scooter Braun reportedly stated.
Taylor and Justin used to be good friends, but they became estranged after he allegedly cheated on her BFF Selena Gomez. The feud intensified when he showed support for rapper Kanye West, who once humiliated Taylor at the 2009 MTV VMAs.
Taylor herself is beefing with Justin's manager, Scooter, over the acquisition of her catalog. Back in 2019, Taylor called out Scooter for acquiring her albums' masters. "I learned about Scooter Braun's purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world," she wrote. "All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I've received at his hands for years."
"My team attempted to enter into negotiations with Scooter Braun. Scooter's team wanted me to sign an ironclad NDA stating I would never say another word about Scooter Braun unless it was positive, before we could even look at the financial records of BMLG (which is always the first step in a purchase of this nature)," she added. "So, I would have to sign a document that would silence me forever before I could even have a chance to bid on my own work."
The Grammy winner said negotiations never got underway, because of the strict NDA demands. "He would never even quote my team a price. These master recordings were not for sale to me," she declared.
