Nearly one year after raising eyebrows for her outfit on the cover of Vanity Fair's Hollywood Issue, the 'Bombshell' actress admits she did not think of the consequences.

AceShowbiz - Nicole Kidman has blamed her "teenage choices" for her controversial Vanity Fair cover. Nearly one year after generating fierce criticisms over her choice of clothes for her spread on the magazine's 2022 Hollywood Issue, the "Big Little Lies" star got real about the reason why.

The 56-year-old actress addressed the issue during an interview with Stellar magazine which was published on Monday, July 17. When the subject was brought up, she confessed, "I make the most random, crazy choices." She went on to explain, "I call them 'teenage choices' because I just don't ever think of consequences."

"Part of my brain just doesn't think like that," the "Bombshell" actress further explained. "I just go, 'Oh, I'm going to wear that; it reminds me of my school uniform.' Or 'Oh my God, yeah, I'd love to do that.' I try to [stay] in that place because I think otherwise you get scared or worried."

While she opened up about why she made her controversial choice, Nicole ensured that she did not dig deeper into the online criticisms themselves. "Don't tell me, I don't really want to know," she told the Australian magazine. "It will stop me doing what I want to do. There are times when you hear things and you go, 'Oh my gosh, that's really hurtful.' "

"Because you can't be under a rock. But at the same time, I really try to stay free in the choices because otherwise, before you know it, you're just closed off and you can't step anywhere," she continued elaborating.

During the chat, Nicole also admitted that she found pleasure in choosing her outfit for the cover photo. She added, "I want for myself just to keep going, 'Oh, well, I'm trying something or I wanted to do it. It was fun. That was my choice.' And yeah, I own it. I'm accountable. Whatever. I take responsibility. Nobody else chose it."

This was not the first time Nicole discussed her controversial Vanity Fair cover. In a May 2022 interview with Vogue Australia, she admitted, "I showed up and they had another outfit for me and I was like, 'No, no, I like this one! Am I allowed to wear that?' And [the stylist] Katie Grand, who's just fantastic, was on Zoom, and Katie was like 'You're willing to wear that?!' And I said, 'Wear it?! I'm begging you to wear it!' "

Nicole's controversial Vanity Fair cover itself saw the actress donning a black crop top that she paired with a matching mini chino skirt. Her skirt was short enough that the whites of the pockets could clearly be seen under the hemline. She was also posing in between yellow gates in front of the famous Hollywood sign.
